During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, MCCIA envisaged the need for a common platform to assess potential gaps in the demand and supply in the healthcare sector which treated Covid-19 patients. This led to the creation of PPCR (Pune Platform for COVID-19 Response), a need-based, time-bound, pro-bono activity. Over the last year, funds have been raised to supplement the steps being taken by the Government to contain the spread of the virus and to extend humanitarian assistance to those in need. This is not just a monetary initiative, the city's brightest minds have collaborated to see it through.
PPCR now comprises of 250+ Private & Government hospitals, 10+ Government offices, 150+ Corporates and 1000+ individual donors. From raising funds to channelizing resources, from distribution of ration kits to arranging ventilators/HFNO's and from training medical staff to counselling citizens, PPCR has proactively pursued the cause of supplementing government efforts and helped the system sustain the pandemic pressure.

So far, PPCR has delivered about 50% of Pune’s ventilator capacity and increased Pune’s COVID beds capacity by 700%. Thanks to these efforts, Pune now has the highest COVID bed capacity and highest ventilator capacity in the country, surpassing Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.
As the demand for oxygen & ventilators skyrocketed amid the surge in the Covid-19 caseloads, PPCR arranged for the procurement and donation of BiPaPs and Oxygen Concentrators to the worst affected areas across the country. This initiative was supported by the Temasek Foundation, Amazon, Olam, Air India and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. PPCR has supplied this essential COVID equipment to every district in Maharashtra and also to districts also across Rajasthan, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujrat and Tamil Nadu. 12 oxygen generating plants have been set up across the state with the support of corporates like the Tata Group. Mission Vayu came to life and was delivered within a week’s time thanks to the active involvement of multiple stakeholders.
